Know More About the Heat Convector (Blower) Room Heater ▾

A blower room heater has a heating element and a fan. The fan pulls in air, passes it over the hot element and pushes warm air back into the room. This is why a room heater with a fan warms the whole space more evenly than a heater that only warms what is in front of it.

Start by deciding:

  • The size of the room. Higher heat suits a larger room, lower heat suits a small one.
  • The heat modes you need. Two modes let you save power once the room is warm.
  • Where you will use it. A light heater that stands upright or lies flat is easier to place and move.
  • The safety protection. Look for a thermostat, a thermal cut-out and an overload protector.

1000W or 2000W: which blower heater mode do you need?

Use the lower mode to keep a small room comfortable and the higher mode to warm a cold room quickly. Glint and Areva give you both a 1000W and a 2000W mode in one heater, so you can start high and then switch down.

Need What to choose
Small bedroom or study on a mild day Lower mode (1000W)
A cold room you want to warm quickly Higher mode (2000W), then switch down
Longer use through the evening A heater with a thermostat
Moving between rooms A lighter heater with a handle

Blower heater or quartz heater: which suits you?

A blower heater warms the air in the room. A quartz heater warms you and the things in front of it. Choose by whether you want to warm a room or a spot.

Feature Blower heater Quartz heater
How it heats A fan pushes warm air into the room Radiant heat on you and nearby objects
Best for A whole room, bedroom or living area One person or a small group, 1 to 2 metres away
Noise Some fan noise Silent, no fan
Time to feel warm Gradual, as the room warms Within moments, close to the heater

For spot heating at a desk or bedside, see our quartz room heaters. For long hours of steady warmth, see the oil-filled radiators in our room heaters.

Where does the Heat Convector fit?

The Heat Convector 2000W is a small room heater with dual fans, high and low heat modes and an adjustable stand with two heating positions. It has a night light for visibility in a dark room, is ISI approved and comes with a 2-year warranty. It is the heaviest of the four, so it suits a spot that stays in place, such as a bedroom floor or a living room corner.

How much electricity does a blower heater use?

Units used in an hour equal the wattage divided by 1000. A heater running at 1000W uses 1 unit an hour, and at 2000W it uses 2 units. At an example rate of ₹8 per unit, the cost works out like this. Your actual rate depends on your location/state, so check your latest bill.

Mode Units used per hour Cost for 1 hour Cost for 4 hours
1000W 1 ₹8 ₹32
2000W 2 ₹16 ₹64

A heater with a thermostat switches its element off when the room reaches the set temperature, so it can use less than these full-power figures. Start on the higher mode and switch to the lower one once the room is warm.

What to check before buying a blower room heater online

  • Heat modes. Two modes let you match the heat to the weather.
  • Thermostat. It keeps the room at the temperature you want.
  • Thermal cut-out and overload protector. They switch the heater off if it gets too hot or draws too much power.
  • Fire-retardant body. A flame-retardant plastic body adds a layer of safety.
  • Motor. A copper motor is built for long running hours.
  • Weight and placement. A light heater that works upright or lying flat is easier to use in different rooms.
  • Cord length and warranty. Check both on the product page.

How do you use a blower heater safely?

  • Keep about 1 metre of clear space around the heater. Curtains, bedding, clothes and papers should stay well away.
  • Do not cover the heater or block its air vents.
  • Place it on a flat, steady surface, away from water.
  • Do not use it in a bathroom or any damp place.
  • Plug it straight into a wall socket that suits its load. Avoid long chains of extension boards.
  • Switch it off and unplug it when you leave the room or go to sleep.
